We award grants to programs making a real difference in
the lives of women and in the future of girls. Increasing
a woman's ability to support herself and her children is
the primary goal of our grant-making. We are a 501(c)(3)
organization serving the more than 1 million people living
in Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Orleans, Wayne,
and Yates counties.

Our History
We were established in 1994 to manage a permanent endowment
that would create lasting social change by investing in
programs that benefit women and girls. Like more than 100
other women's foundations and funds around the world, we
turn donations into community capital that makes our region
a place of renewal and hope.
Our 2004 study on the economic needs of women and families,
Improving Economic Self-Sufficiency, is shaping
local program and funding priorities.
THINK GLOBAL, ACT LOCAL
All donations to the Women's Foundation help women and girls
living in the Finger Lakes Region of New York State. See
and hear how women's funds like ours have improved communities
around the world.
